The NREMT exam asks questions on these topics:
- Airway, Respiration & Ventilation - Cardiology & Resuscitation - Trauma - Medical/Obstetrics/Gynecology - EMS Operations
All sections, except EMS Operations, have a content distribution of 85% adult and 15% pediatrics [based questions].
Topic weightage: For the EMT exam, 18%-22% of questions asked will cover airway, respiration, and ventilation; 20%-24% will cover cardiology and resuscitation; 14%-18% will cover trauma; 27%-31% will cover medical/obstetrics/gynecology; and 10%-14% will cover EMS operations. For the EMR, advanced EMT and paramedic exams, the numbers differ only by 1%-2% in each category.
Note: The NREMT exam bases questions off of the National EMS Education Standards, current accepted practices of EMS, and Current AHA Guidelines for CPS and ECC (Emergency Cardiovascular Care).
