Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a methodology for turning customer requirements into products and services. It involves listening to customer needs and wants, and then deciding what product features or services to create.

The QFD process is divided into four major phases: Product Planning, Product Development, Process Planning, Production Planning.
A fundamental principle of QFD is that every decision and selection made in the product development cycle can be referred back to the customer requirements.
The House of Quality is at the heart of QFD. It links predetermined customer attributes to specific technical characteristics.

The key phases of the QFD process are:
Identify customer requirements
Translate requirements into technical descriptors
Competitor analysis
Develop product concepts
Determine product characteristics
Create detailed design
Develop production process
