Iranian human rights advocate, ____, received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003. She was the first Iranian to be honored with this award, for her very courageous work on behalf of refugees, women, and children. The Iranian government apparently confiscated her award, and she has been in exile (in the United Kingdom) since 2009.

Peace studies is an interdisciplinary academic field that draws on political science, sociology, history, anthropology, theology, psychology, philosophy, and other fields to:

understand the causes of armed conflict;
develop ways to prevent and resolve war, genocide, terrorism, gross violations of human rights; and
build peaceful and just systems and societies.
