Air force recruits young boys and girls at officer level and airman level.

Officer Level
An officer is a member of an armed force or uniformed service who holds a position of authority. To be able to lead and control, requires the ability to motivate yourself, inspire others and make tough decisions efficiently. Lessons in team work, developing communication skills and confidence, honing strategic and dynamic thinking and preparing you to face pressures with ease are grilled into an Officer during his/her training.

Depending on your qualifications, you could join one of the various branches in the !AF. Broadly the Air Force has three branches with further sub-streams:

Flying Branch: Fighters, Transports, Helicopters
Technical Branch: Mechanical, Electronics
Ground Duty Branch: Administration, Accounts, Logistics, Education, Meteorology


Eligibility Criteria
 
1. Flying branch - 16 liz to 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics. Men only. May and December.

2. Flying branch - 19 to 23 Graduate (Three Year Course) in any Men only. June and October. Any discipline from a recognised University Permanent (Advertisements are released by UPSC). Combined with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 
3. Flying branch - 19 to 23 I.Graduate (Three Year Course) - Men only. Nee Cadets are to
Nee Special years discipline from a recognised University Permanent apply through
Entry with minimum 60% marks in aggregate Commission. respective NCe Air
in all papers put together and have Squadrons/DG NCe.
passed Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level
OR
BE/ B Tech (Four Year Course) from a recognised University with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together.
2.Final Year/semester students are also eligible to apply, provided they do not have any present backlogs at the time of SSB Testing and produce Degree certificate as per the date in the advertisement.
3. NCe Air Wing Senior Division 'C' certificate.
4. Flying branch - 19 to 23 l.Graduates (Three Year Course) in any Men and, June and December.
Short Service years discipline from a recognised University Women (through AFCAT) with minimum 60% marks in aggregate Entry (SSC) and have Physics and Mathematics at
10+2 level
OR
BE/ B Tech (Four Year Course) from a recognised university with minimum . 60% marks 'in aggregate
2. Final Year students are also eligible to apply, provided they do not have any backlog at the time of SSB Testing and produce Degree certificate issued by the University as per the date stipulated in the advertisement.
5. Technical 18 to 28 Candidates studying in Pre-Final year of Men only.  BTech/BE degree course. Permanent (through AFCAT)
On completion of degree, minimum Commission.
University Entry 60% of marks in aggregate in all papers Scheme(UES) put together are mandatory.
6. Technical 18 to 28 I.BE / B Tech (Four Year Course)  - Men and Women

AIRMEN LEVEL
The selection as an Airman in the IAF is conducted through All India Selection Tests and Recruitment
Rallies. All india Selection Tests are conducted at the Airmen Selection Centres (ASCs) located all over
India as per schedule, whereas the Recruitment Rallies are conducted from time to time in selected
areas/regions of particular States/Union Territories of the country.

Instructor years degree or two years teaching Trade experience in a Government recognised School/College, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate in Graduation as well as B. Ed
3. Group 'X' : 20to Passed MA English / Men only.  
4. Group 'Y' 17 to Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Men only. As advertised/Recruitment
[Except Med years subject approved by Central / State rallies, Asst and Education Boards with minimum 50% Musician) marks in aggregate and 50% marks in
English
OR
Passed two years vocational course
, affiliiated / recognised by tBSE / State Education Boards / Councils duly

5. Group 'Y' : 17 to Passed 1O+2/lntermediate / Men only. As Med Asst  - equivalent exam with Physics, advertised/  - Chemistry, Biology and English with a  minimum of :50% marks in aggregate
and 50% marks in English
6. Group 'Y' : 17 to Passed Matriculation / 10th class or Men only. As Musician 25 equivalent with minimum pass marks advertised 
School/Boards and proficient in playing at least one of the following musical instruments: Trumpet / Bass / Violin / Saxophone / Clarinet / Euphonium / Jazz-Drum / Piccolo / BassTrombone / Key Board / Guitar / Sarod / Viola / Cello I Contra Bass (String Bass).
Note: For Army and Navy also, posts like cook, musician, driver, multi-tasking staff etc. are available.
Recruitment is done for each wing through their own recruiting office.
