Army is one of the most respectable professions. To join the Indian Army, one needs to be physically and mentally fit, emotionally strong, able to take quick decisions and above all should have respect and love for the nation. Indian Army offers job security, economic stability, social status, quality of life and adventure.
Recruitment in the Army is broad based. Every citizen, irrespective of caste, class, religion and domicile, is eligible for recruitment in the Army, provided he/she meets the age, educational, physicaland medical standards.

Entry into the force can be through the following examinations:-

1. National Defence Academy (INDA)
2. 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme
3. Indian Military Academy (IMA)
4. Short Service Commission (Non Technical Men)
5. TGC (Engineers)
6. TGC Education (AEC)
7. JAG Men
8. Short Service Commision (Technical men)
9. NCC (SPL) Entry Men
10. Short Service Commision (Technica; women)
11. Nee (SPl) Entry Women
12, University Entry Scheme

Eligibility Criteria For Recruitment Of Junior Commissioned Officer (JeD) And Other Ranks ;-

1. Soldier (General Duty) (All Arms) ,

2. Soldier (Technical) (Technical Arms, Artillery, Army Air Defense)

3. Soldier Cierk / Store Keeper / Technical (All Arms)

4. Soldier Nursing Assistant (Army Medical Corps)

5, Soldier Tradesmen {All Arms}

6 Soldier General Duty (All Arms)

7. Surveyor Autoated Cartographer (Engineers) - Science as main subjects.

8 JCO Religious Teacher (All Arms)

Graduate in any discipline. In addition requisite - (AIJ Arms) qualification in his own religious denomination.

9. JCO Catering 10+2 or equivalent exam and Army Service Dioloma/Certifkate Course of a duration of one I Corps) year or more in Cookery/Hotel Management and  
Catering Tech from a recognized University / II Food Craft Institute.


10. Havildar Education (Army Education Group)
Group X MA / MSc / MCA or SA/ BSc/ BCA/BSc.(IT) with BEd


Recruitment in the Army is also carried out throughout the year through an open rally system.
The recruitment programme is published in local newspapers, two weeks prior to the conduct of the rally by the concerned ZROs. The process of screening and enrolment is as follows: -
{a} Checking of documents.
(b) Physical measurements.
(c) Physical fitness test.
(d) Medical examination.
(e) Written examination.
(f) Preparation of merit list.
(g) Enrolment and Dispatch of selected candidates in order of merit to Centres.

Following original documents along with three Photostat copies of each, duly attested are needed:-
- X Class date of birth certificate.
- X / XII Class marks sheet.
- Character Certificate to be signed by village Sarpanch (not more than six months old).
- Domicile Certificate.
- Caste Certificate.
- Dependent Certificate (in case of son of Ex-servicemen/ War WidOW/Widow) signed by record office.
- Certificate of Outstanding sportsmen.
- NCCCertificate (A/B/C Certificate).
