Auxiliary verbs: Add grammatical or functional meaning to a clause, such as to express voice, modality, aspect, tense, or emphasis. Auxiliary verbs usually accompany a main verb.
Linking verbs: Describe the subject by connecting it to a predicate adjective or predicate noun.
Intransitive verbs: A verb whose context does not entail a direct object.
Transitive verbs: A verb that requires an object.
Modal verbs: Show necessity, intent, ability, or possibility. Modal verbs are a type of auxiliary verb and are used with the main verb in a sentence. Examples include "must", "can", and "should". 

Phrasal verbs can be divided into two types: intransitive and transitive. Intransitive phrasal verbs do not take a direct object, while transitive phrasal verbs must have a direct object. 
A gerund is made up of the verb +ing (going, eating, walking). However, it is not a verb, but a noun.
