Analysing substances quantitatively answers the question of 'how much'. It involves carrying out experiments that give you results for use in calculations. The calculations indicate the amouts of each element present in a compound and can be given as a percentage or as a mass. These calculations often involve the use of a quantity called the mole - a word that is used to represent a large number of particles and it really makes life much easier when carrying out chemical calculations.
