Type II covers servicing or disposing of high- or very high-pressure appliances, except small appliances and MVACs. The traps are usually about evacuation levels, major vs non-major repairs, leaking vs non-leaking systems, and what equipment/methods are allowed.

EPA’s current test-topic guidance specifically calls out evacuation rules by appliance size, leak condition, major vs non-major repair, and the prohibition on using system-dependent recovery equipment on systems with more than 15 pounds of refrigerant. Those numbers come straight from EPA’s evacuation table and are exactly the kind of thing exam questions twist by changing just one variable: leak status, charge size, equipment age, or repair type. 

Modern trap:
Leak-repair requirements for 50+ lb substitute refrigerant systems were rescinded in 2020, but venting prohibition, evacuation rules, certification, and sales restrictions still apply to substitutes used in stationary systems. (US EPA)
