The math section of the TABE has two parts. On the first part (Mathematics Computation), you will have to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. This part has 40 multiple-choice questions with 4 answer choices and a fifth choice, “None of these.” You can’t use a calculator on this part. The second part of the test (Applied Mathematics) covers math topics that are used in day-to-day life, such as percents, measurement, geometry, averages, and reading charts and graphs. There are 50 multiple-choice questions with 4 answer choices, but you can use a calculator on this part.
This section is also divided into these two main parts. Each of these is further subdivided into topics made up by the TABE D test writers.
There are six topics in the Mathematics Computation section: - Multiplying Whole Numbers - Dividing Whole Numbers - Fractions - Decimals - Percents - Integers
There are eight topics in the Applied Mathematics section: - Numeration - Number Theory - Data Interpretation - Pre-Algebra and Algebra - Measurement - Geometry - Computation in Context - Estimation
