A civil draftsman, also known as a drafter, is a professional who creates detailed drawings and plans for civil engineering projects. These projects can include highways, dams, bridges, waterways, and sewer systems.
Civil draftsmen work with drawings, rough sketches, codes, and calculations from engineers, architects, or scientists.
Their duties include: Drawing topographical or relief maps of terrain set for construction Creating reports detailing their analysis of the area Assisting in the research, design, operation, and maintenance of civil engineering construction projects Assisting in design computations and cost estimates Making layouts that are drawn to scale
