Introduction

The job of a manager is to help their people do their job better. Peter Drucker said that. Drucker was the original management guru, who helped shape the study of manageemnt.

Peter Drucker's management theory is based on the concepts of decentralization, knowledge work, management by objectives (MBO), and the SMART goal method.

Here are some of Drucker's management basics:
Management by objectives:
This philosophy involves defining objectives within an organization so that management and workers agree on what needs to be done to achieve them.
Knowledge workers: Drucker coined this term to describe employees who provide knowledge for the future of the company. He believed that knowledge would be a commodity in the future of business.

Effective executives: Drucker identified two key habits of successful leaders:
Time management
Focus on contribution
Innovation and entrepreneurship: Drucker said that these are the two primary functions of every business.
Decentralization: This involves managers empowering employees by delegating tasks.

Drucker also believed that effective managers are efficient managers. He felt that the primary responsibility of effective managers is to make their operations as productive as possible.
Drucker also had some advice for management tasks, including setting objectives:

Management should answer three critical questions: What is our business? What will it be? What should it be?
Consensus is unlikely to be reached as opinions will diverge.

Drucker also had some advice for smart leaders, including asking these five magic questions:
What is your mission?
Which are the most important relationships you want to invest in?
What are the essential priorities and goals of those closest to you?
What are your expectations of the people around you, and what do they expect of you?
What is your plan?

The term "management" may also refer to those people who manage an organization.
