Use these steps for subtracting mixed numbers.
-  Convert mixed numbers into improper fractions. image
-  Find equivalent fractions with the same denominator for unlike fractions. (fractions with different denominators) 
-  Subtract the second fraction from the first one. image
-  Write your answer in lowest terms.
-  If the answer is an improper fraction, convert it into a mixed number.
