The term rational means that the number can be expressed as a ratio or fraction. That is, a number, r, is rational if and only if it can be represented by a fraction are integers and b does not equal 0. The set of rational numbers includes integers and decimals. If there is no finite way to represent a value with a fraction of integers, then the number is irrational.
